In a few days, Mars will be in opposition, i.e. at its closest point to Earth. It is a vivid orange "star" visible all night long. The sky enthusiast should have recognize many objets amongs the constellations going from Pupis (near the Horizon) to Andromeda (on the upper right) : star clusters in Pupis, Beehives star cluster, Rosette Nebula, M 35 in Gemini, the 3 Auriga star clusters, California Nebula, comet Holmes, the double star cluster in Perseus and the Great Andromeda Galaxy. |
