On early June, the astronomical twinlight is beginning at 3:30 AM local time. The satellites are now partially visible toward the South horizon, because the Earth shadow is rather low, inducing their extinction when they are near the horizon. By studying where they disappear, it is possible to draw the Earth shadow arch. This arch is materialized by the curved line and the darker area that I have added with Photoshop.
Don't miss the video (gathering 1225 photos and spanning 4 hours and a half) from which this picture is created: click here. You'll see how the number of visible satellites is increasing during the astronomical twilight! |
