I know its existence since 1997, but till this day, I never see it! It's the Moonbow, a rainbow display by the Moon instead of the Sun. Tonight, the Moon is Full.
A few minutes ago, leaving the restaurant, it was raining and the Full Moon was visible in front of me. Knowing well the atmospheric optics, I knew it was probably a good opportunity to take my chance. A few kilometers from home, I found the right place with a good horizon. It was raining as I was leaving my car... and I can see the Moonbow, after a 12 years long chase!
Despite the rain, I take out my Canon 5D MarkII and start a series of pictures to realize this panorama. At 3200 ISO, with a 6 s exposure and an aperture of 2.0, the picture is as bright as in broad daylight, but it's 10 PM, night-time. |
