Here is a picture of a rare phenomenon: a green flash from the Moon. It's the thin edging at the Moon's summit (while the inferior border is red). Notice too the mock mirage just above the Moon. It's a refraction of the Moon in a temperature inversion atmospheric layer.
When I took the picture, the Moon was at an elevation of 1°22'. That night, the sky was really clear. |
