This is what the colors of the Moon were during the 2nd contact (when the Moon is totaly immerged in the Earth's shadow). The limb on the upper right has just entered in the shadow cone. It is white. Under, the lunar surface is bluish, while deeply in the shadow, its tint is red-orange.
Nota : the sunlight filtering through the Earth's atmosphere is responsible of the shadow cone color. Ane can see that blue light disappear slowly as we go deep in the shadow.
During the 3rd contact, surprisingly, no blue tint was visible, due to the weather conditions differents in this side of Earth. |
