| It's low tide. The sea seems to have withdraw and the wet sand spread out the moonlight which has just rose. Mars (the bright star above the red lighthouse located on the horizon) is reflecting itself in a white patch. In this scan of the printing, the trail of the Moon is masked by its brightness. |
